No. SmartCats StayHome products will not harm birds.

Small birds will sit on the wire and not be aware of anything and will not be harmed or deterred.

Larger birds will sit on the wire and the weight of the bird will cause the wire to sag under the weight, when the wire touches the fence it will make a clicking noise, the bird does not feel anything and is not harmed but because it is a wild animal the bird will instinctively move away and land somewhere else.

Birds are not harmed in any way by the cat fence.

Because possums are a similar size to cats and they will be deterred from coming over the fence in the same way it works to deter cats from going over the fence.

Possums wll not be harmed by the cat fence but they will stop coming over the fence.

The brackets attach to the top of the fence to support the wire 60mm above the top of the fence.

The wire must sit above the top of the fence to work effectively. The reason for this is because your cat will jump or climb to the top of the fence, your cat will always pause at the top of the fence to make sure it is safe before jumping down the other side, it is when your cat is at the top of the fence he/she will feel the small electronic pulse in the wire (similar to the static you sometimes feel getting out of the car) the pulse in the wire is once every second eg pulse.... pulse....pulse....pulse.... Your cat will not understand what it is and will jump back to where it feels safe, inside your property.

The wire must sit above the top of your existing fence.
